As the title says, I have been looking into starting the interesting yet very expensive hobby of playing the Middle-earth Strategy Battle game. The game is a tabletop wargame, made by the creators of Warhammer and with similar gameplay. Has anyone here played this game before? How many miniatures should you start with? Is it really worth playing at all?

I'm going to apologize because I have no clue why we are even arguing. It is true that I disagree with how you may address some users, but right now we are discussing an Amazon show and it appears we seem to agree on most things here. I think perhaps there was a misunderstanding on my part. I still do not have high hopes for the show, and because Amazon has had a poor track record in the past I'm not quick to get excited for Rings of Power. However as long as they keep things fairly clean (Shadow of Mordor level at bare minimum) I won't mind too much if the show stinks. Again, we shall see. I shouldn't have brought all this up again. My fault.
I agree that money has nothing to do with quality. Amazon has much more money than Netflix so if they so desired they could make much more expensive productions than they do. However companies just always seem to have an idea of what they want in a series, so they're going to be hiring companies they believe agree with this agenda.
I am not sensitive, but I believe in expressing one's opinions in a way that is not trashing other's thoughts. If you think I'm an idiot that's alright, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and you need not insist that yours is always right.
Source material has nothing to do with it. Amazon is known to the general public to fund poorly made television and movies. They haven't had a large hit ever, and even the quality of Netflix (which is frequently dubious) is superb compared to them. I don't know if you intend to be rude or not, but I actually do know what I'm talking about. Companies sometimes just tend to throw their money at garbage.
@Fandyllic They weren't comparing it to Wheel of Time. They were saying that because they think WoT sucks and it's an Amazon show they believe that Amazon will also botch the Lotr show. I know you always say don't compare this series with that series, but if it's made by the same company you can expect similar quality.

@Scothe There's not any stores that I know of in my area, so I'm just going to play Gaslands. It's cheap for broke people like me.
The series will probably have too much crap in it for my liking. I don't watch R-rated stuff much or at all, so if Amazon decides to put garbage in a Tolkien adaption I'm just skipping it. Plus, unless a miracle from heaven occurs the show might have very poor writing and execution. Amazon is so sure that the show will be a hit that they're going to make 5 or 6 seasons, and that could be a disaster if the writing and stortelling is terrible.
@Fandyllic I know where you stand politically, but Amazon should avoid making big political statements in the show. Middle-earth isn't real, and it isn't experiencing the same issues our world is.

I haven't said the books I've read. Is Don Quixote good enough? What about A Tale of Two Cities?
However, the most accurate description of the books I read, now that I think of it, is more like anything older than the 50's or so. The more common idea people have of "modern." Maybe you'd say I read classics mainly? But then that depends on your definition of classic.
@Fandyllic This is getting too off-topic, but I meant that I don't read modern books often. I understand Tolkien is modern. Although most or many people don't understand that and think that the 80's were ancient.
Also, I just kinda realized that Narnia and all those books are really kid's books and not YA books. I've seen Wicked put in the YA category. Nothing wrong with children's fiction - I like many myself. But you can't really even compare them to the books you listed (or so I presume at least from a quick Google search).

Again, just an opinion. I don't read too many modern books, so I can't really say whether I find those good or not. Remember though, how good or bad a book is is subjective. There's not a right or wrong answer.
Great movies, but too goofy and the final movie generally stinks. I for one don't mind the CGI effects. Martin Freeman did a stellar job as Bilbo.
@LoganTheCollector117 Pardon me, but from reading one of your other posts I'm guessing that you probably are a younger user, so let me just warn you that War in the North is the bloodiest LotR game to date. It's not bad compared to some games, but it's still an M-rated title.
As a reply to the first post, I do think this game looks cool and I probably will play it for myself someday, but because it doesn't support backwards compatibility on console and isn't the best of the LotR games, Shadow of Mordor/War is a far better choice.
That is a matter of opinion. What would those series be, may I ask?
And do you mean better YA series or adult series? Because, again, they can't be compared for many reasons. Also, you should know by now that not everyone here is an adult, so obviously some users will say they like YA series because those are the series they can read.

Really the reading level is what makes it adult. The violence isn't described too vividly and there's not any language or anything. I guess if your imagination is very vivid that would be another story...
@Fandyllic Everyone is at different reading levels and parts of their life on Fandom, so it's common to see people compare books like that.
However, I would have to agree - it's not really fair to compare books like those. For example, I love the Professor Layton series of puzzle games (my namesake), but I wouldn't really compare them to something such as the Fallout series, even though I love both series.
That's true. Plus, I had another post that got around 70 responses. And they were mostly real discussion.
