@Drour1234 Hobbits are not part of men and seen as a species on their own. They are fifth and last of the Free Peoples of the World.
Turin given he is destined to deal unto Morgoth his death and final end. And so shall the Children of Húrin and all fallen Men be avenged.
Simple… to teach a lesson… the lesson of good always wins in the end… the history of Arda is mainly one big lesson, esp to the likes of Melkor….
Erus was described as being omniscient, making this a mute question.
As All-Knowing, he knew…..
Yes..With the death of Turgon in the Fall of Gondolin, Gil-galad became the next high king until his death in the 2nd age.
The fall of Gondolin is pre war of wrath so….. he was.
Define powerfull?? Strong? Thats documented to be Fingolfin.
LOTR is part of an entirely fictional world, called Middle-earth created by Tolkien. And done so in several stages.
And yes, Tolkien did integrate many of the myths, proto-languages and legends from throughout Europe. However, Middle-earth bears no physical, geological or actual historical references to Europe what so ever.
Because he is Middle Earth’s enigma.
Which didnt change the fact he was a Maiar 😉
In a way you are right. He was in the beginning.
But not anymore according to Tolkien:
"Melkor is counted no longer among the Valar, and his name is not spoken upon Earth."-The Silmarillion, Valaquenta, pp. 25-6
Melkor is no Valar. He is an Ainur. In fact the most gifted and powerfull one of them all. A select few of these Ainur decended down on Middle Earth during its creation. The most powerfull onces became the Valar, basically the leaders. The less powerfull ones became the Maiar. The helpers of the Valar. Melkor wasnt part of either group. He basically started on his own, fighting the Valar over ruling Middle Earth. Maiars all started off good but some got corrupted and were drawn to Melkor’s side. Sauron being one of them. But also a group of fire spirits who became the Balrogs. The wizards were Maiar sent by the Valar, to help out the people to defeat Middle Earth. One of them failed: Saruman.
He is Tolkien’s enigma. The one thing that cannot be explained. What is he? He is!
No brainer. Ungoliant almost beat Melkor (The most powerfull Ainur ever) and he would have if ALL his balrogs didnt come to his aid. And this was end of the years of the trees. So Melkor (Morgoth) was powerfull still.
