The Return of the King (disambiguation)

What do you think of this idea:

Lord of the rings remake, but a series this time. The reason I think it should be a series is because I think it should be more focused on what is going on in middle earth at the time of the books (Battle of Dale etc.) but at the same time following the course of the fellowship (which would be the priority), I think it should be broken down into 1.5-2 hour long episodes with around 5 seasons. Not too long but definitely not short (more episodes is better than longer ones when speaking in terms of viewer engagement).

I think it would start at a similar time to when the movies start which would give good amount of time to showcase the declining kingdoms of men and elves and showing the dark forces at work.

Key events it should include in my opinion:

Messenger coming to Erebor

First attack on osgiliath

Both Battles of the fords of isen

All attacks on Lorien (3rd being the biggest)

Battle under the trees

Battle of dale

Battle in pelargir

Battle of the Pelenor

Battle of the Maranon

Helms deep

Seige of cair andros (200 men v 20,000 orcs)

What do you all think?

I know that it's not totally accurate to the books because it doesn't show the Scouring of the Shire or Sam leaving for Valinod (among other things), but would you still consider the ending where the Hobbits return to the Shire still accurate to Tolkien's intentions? Personally, I would, because the whole thing plays like a veteran returning home from war, which Tolkien was in WW1

I’m on the last book about halfway through! Afterwards I’m gonna read the Silmarillion (I think that’s how it’s spelled…)

I have all the Lotr, the hobbit, the sillmarilion, the unfinished tales, beren and luthien and the children of hurin. Must I buy the History of Middle-earth, and what is it talking about?

Soo my copy of Return of the King starts at page 731? Is this with all of them? and why?
