Morgoth ruined the unmarred world and broke it to pieces and made all the Valar flee to what became Valinor, so I'd say he was alot more successful. Even after evil is defeated the world looks nothing like what the Valar had planned for their creation.

I mean in terms of reign and rampage Sauron lasted longer in terms of destruction Melkor was way more distructive

Melkor literally destroyed the world before the valars could even finish their job.

Sauron outlasted him though and he failed to gain attention from the valars which already tells you that they did not see him as a threat.

No im just saying that looks just wrong for some reason i imagine melkor's armour to look like sauron's.
