Yeah of course! The poor guy was just at the wrong place at the wrong time when the ring was found.
Kinda makes you wonder why the rings powers hit him SO hard that he instantly killed Deagol for it? Was that killer always in him? Cuz it didn't effect everyone instantly that way....even took Bormir a few days
Deagol was hit pretty hard too. Maybe whatever race they were was super susceptible.
Of course! It’s not like he had a choice. The power of The Ring was too strong.
I pity Smeagol, not Gollum.
I pity Smeagol who was urged into killing, and was nearly killed by, his cousin for the Ring. I bear no pity for Gollum who was spawned by the Ring.
I pity him at the start, then I am not in the end. But perhaps I may lament for him after he died since everything's over. He could have a good life if he never touch the ring but his spirit is weak. Then after Frodo's attempt to be good to him, he betrays him and torment him like an ungrateful bastard. Sometimes when things got too far, there's no turning back nor solutions already. You can only end it once in for all. There's no point on helping gollum anymore and you cannot let your sentiment overcome you again.
Yes, I pity Smeagol, not Gollum.
What do you think?
