I have all the Lotr, the hobbit, the sillmarilion, the unfinished tales, beren and luthien and the children of hurin. Must I buy the History of Middle-earth, and what is it talking about?

Should i buy the history of middle earth?
Well, I've never laid eyes on a copy of HOME, so you should take my words with a grain of salt. But I think that unless you're very deeply in love with the series and can't get enough of it, or if you want a lot of finesse detail and insight into Tolkien's worldbuilding, then you don't need HOME. The books which you have provide with all the important stuff, and HOME is pretty long, so if you're the average busy person, then reading through all that can might take a long time. A lot of people only read LOTR and The Hobbit, so if you've read The Silmarillion you'll have plenty of higher ground as it is. I personally have only read The Hobbit, LOTR, and The Silmarillion, and I think it is sufficient. Of course, I'd love to read the rest of the books too, but it'll probably have to wait for "sometime in the future."
Hope this helps! Happy reading!!!
