WHY AND WHERE DID FRODO GO IN THE END!?
*spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the last book*
Hi! So if you are referring to the very very end of the book, Frodo was given permission to go to the Undying Lands/Valinor along with Bilbo. They got to go because they were such vital members of the whole goal of destroying the Ring and Sauron as well as the fact that they had both been damaged by the effects of the ring and living in Arda for the rest of their days was not going to be pleasant.
Hope this helped! :)
Thank you for clearing. I was confused because I haven't read the books.... But I will soon! Thanks :)
It would be easy to read the ending of the book or use the wiki but Elwing is right. He went to Valinor.
Just a small addition
They gained the right to go to Valinor not only due to their feats. Bilbo and Frodo were still deemed ringbearers just like Galadriel, Gandalf and Elrond so they sailed to Valinor along with them. Sam who also bore the Ring for a while set off to Valinor at the end of his life as well.
Elaborated: It was because Frodo and Bilbo, and also Sam were Ringbearers, but Galadriel and Gandalf had lived in Valinor before, so like all former residents they could leave Middle-Earth. Elrond was half-elven, so he was given the choice of Elf or Man, he chose Elf, and thus got to go to Valinor when he chooses. His brother Elros chose Man, so he never went to Valinor and ceased to be an elf. Elrond’s wife, Celebrian departed to Valinor before Elrond, due to injuries from an orc attack. Elrond’s daughter, Arwen also chose the to be human, and thus ceased to be an elf just like Elros. Elrond’s sons choice was never told, but they basically magically procrastinated and waited until after the events of the story, dwelling in Middle-Earth until they chose, Arwen and Aragorn’s children would not be Half-Elves or given the choice, as Arwen (and also their Ancestor Elros) chose mortality, which ends their choice prospects. The Kings and Queens of Numenor were said to be angry at Elros’s decision. The Edain and Elros’s descendants did have longer lifespans, and the ability to die whenever they wanted, as Aragorn does in FoA 120. So a big theme in LOTR is the choice to die, and to respect the Gift of Men, showing that mortality isn’t actually so bad. Elros, Aragorn and others chose to die when their time came, because of Eru’s gift to the Aftercomers.
Didn't he go To Valinor, the sort of Elvish afterlife thing? Like obv in the film for instance, Frodo just Dragged old Bilbo out shoved him on a boat with Galadriel and Elrond and joined him on the ship. And then they just sailed off. But I guess it's never really explained where.
WAIT IF VALINOR IS THE ELVISH AFTERLIFE AND YOU SAIL ON BOAT TO GET IT AND THATS WHERE FRODO WENT WITH BILBO; DOES THAT MEAN LORD ELROND AND GALADRIEL ARE TECHNICALLY DEAD NOW?!
What do you think?
