The long answer is that I wouldn't strictly say that the elves rebelled against the Valar (somebody please correct me if my lore is wrong). They were exiled because of the Oath of Fëanor, and because of the First Kinslaying.

if my memory serves me right, wasn’t going to middle earth their goal? Like it didn’t really seem to me that they were exiled didn’t they want to leave and were allowed to but then they committed the kin slaying and that’s when they were exiled?
